"Procrastination" is the word which I would like to avoid in my WORK every time. But due to the time spent I had with my professional and personal life, I couldn't make any other post till date. Its my mistake. I realize and understood now that its very important to plan in advance about GOALS. So we should plan early, set our goals, stick to them, measure them and take action if not going well.
Why Planning?
I do really care the time I spend for my Professional and Personal life as compared with time I spend on Blog. It means I am knowingly or unknowingly giving more importance to other things rather than on Blog. That's the reason, you did not see any post from me these days. This is all because of poor planning and prioritizing goals. Last Sunday, I spent almost 3 hours of wonderful time in understanding how important planning is.
An Idea is a DREAM, until you WRITE down......then its a GOAL
Setting Goals
All good that I had decided to plan and set my goals, but when it comes to writing those goals, I really had hard time in finding whats on the top of my mind. Then I did modular my goals into 1-year goals, 2-year goals, 5-year goals, 10-year goals and Life-time goals. Now it became somewhat better as compared earlier stage before I did modular all My Goals.
Why, How, What.... writing?
As I mentioned earlier with a great quote, your dreams become real if you write down them. Always inspire yourself by writing them, viewing them. I used Google Docs to write my goals. I know its a challenge to write all the goals like 10 year and Life-time goals. Its Okay, you're no where rushing up for an exam or something. You can write your goals whenever you get to know this is what my goal is. Then why choosing "Google Docs" is because I like to view my goals irrespective of my workplace, at home, at a party - anywhere. I also had taken a print of my goals and hooked up to a wall in my study room. So that I can view them and will stick to them.
Setting "Realistic" Goals
While setting my goals, I had faced a problem like writing too many goals. I liked the way I write all my goals, because as everyone does, I also expect more from my life with in a short span of life. Later, when I tried to figure-out the time setting (like start-time, end-time etc) for each goal, its really demanding more time. Further, I realized, its not just goals we should. A goal should be measurable, time-bounded and should not be too many.
Take Away:
If you also face a situation that you're not managing time very well. If you also see some value from "Planning and Setting Goals", please do the following:
1. Write a Plan
2. Set your Goals
3. Be "realistic" while writing goals
4. Make sure you write "start-date/time" and "stop-date/time" for each goal
5. Create a new Google docs page named "My Goals - <current-date>"
6. Take print of the doc and stick on your favorite wall where you always tempted to look at
7. Keep a diary and measure your goals on time-to-time
8. Take "action" if you do not see your goal going in right direction (this action could be again re-Planning as well, don't worry start from steps 1 to 7 - if you would like to do)
