"Procrastination" - would like to avoid it !

"Procrastination" is the word which I would like to avoid in my WORK every time. But due to the time spent I had with my professional and personal life, I couldn't make any other post till date. Its my mistake. I realize and understood now that its very important to plan in advance about GOALS. So we should plan early, set our goals, stick to them, measure them and take action if not going well.

Why Planning?

I do really care the time I spend for my Professional and Personal life as compared with time I spend on Blog. It means I am knowingly or unknowingly giving more importance to other things rather than on Blog. That's the reason, you did not see any post from me these days. This is all because of poor planning and prioritizing goals. Last Sunday, I spent almost 3 hours of wonderful time in understanding how important planning is.

An Idea is a DREAM, until you WRITE down......then its a GOAL

Setting Goals

All good that I had decided to plan and set my goals, but when it comes to writing those goals, I really had hard time in finding whats on the top of my mind. Then I did modular my goals into 1-year goals, 2-year goals, 5-year goals, 10-year goals and Life-time goals.  Now it became somewhat better as compared earlier stage before I did modular all My Goals.

Why, How, What.... writing?

As I mentioned earlier with a great quote, your dreams become real if you write down them. Always inspire yourself by writing them, viewing them. I used Google Docs to write my goals. I know its a challenge to write all the goals like 10 year and Life-time goals. Its Okay, you're no where rushing up for an exam or something. You can write your goals whenever you get to know this is what my goal is. Then why choosing "Google Docs" is because I like to view my goals irrespective of my workplace, at home, at a party - anywhere. I also had taken a print of my goals and hooked up to a wall in my study room. So that I can view them and will stick to them.

Setting "Realistic" Goals

While setting my goals, I had faced a problem like writing too many goals. I liked the way I write all my goals, because as everyone does, I also expect more from my life with in a short span of life. Later, when I tried to figure-out the time setting (like start-time, end-time etc) for each goal, its really demanding more time. Further, I realized, its not just goals we should. A goal should be measurable, time-bounded and should not be too many.

Take Away:

If you also face a situation that you're not managing time very well. If you also see some value from "Planning and Setting Goals", please do the following:
1. Write a Plan
2. Set your Goals
3. Be "realistic" while writing goals
4. Make sure you write "start-date/time" and "stop-date/time" for each goal
5. Create a new Google docs page named "My Goals - <current-date>"
6. Take print of the doc and stick on your favorite wall where you always tempted to look at
7. Keep a diary and measure your goals on time-to-time
8. Take "action" if you do not see your goal going in right direction (this action could be again re-Planning as well, don't worry start from steps 1 to 7 - if you would like to do)

LESSON 1: SIP: BASIC CALL FLOW (PEER-TO-PEER)

Alert: If you HATE long posts, stop reading and click here . The Session Initiation Protocol, a VoIP protocol, used for originating and termination of media sessions like voice, video, IM, presence etc. Before we enter into the more technical details of SIP, let's refresh our basic telecom VoIP skills. I'd like to insist here that SIP is a signalling protocol, its NOT a media protocol -- which means it is a set of rules use to control the signaling part of a media session. It doesn't have any control on media. So let's not wait to start the basic call flow of SIP. Key terms: It is important to familiarize with these terms in order to understand basic SIP call flow. Here are few of them: Call flow : It's a flow diagram of SIP messages -- shows an ideal way how a media session carried over two endpoints. Its a must know thing and will be useful for your troubleshooting as well. Endpoint: Any device which is used to originate and terminate ...

WORDS OF LIFE: KNOW THE DIFFERENCE AND MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

Today's blog is all about "words of life". If you know the difference of understanding these words, then I surely can say that you can make the difference. You can make the difference, if you start seeing them different. Enough of saying 'differences' , let me take you to the actual content what I would like to take you through. Before we enter the post....What is this topic about? Why am I posting this?  Allow me to explain. Understand this, out of this telecom world, I am a common man who always wish to Make The Difference wherever I am interested in. The way we have grown, in our childhood and then later, makes lot of impressions in our mind and becomes "belief" while time flies.  At times you see these impressions, instead I'd call them beliefs, limit them knowingly or unknowingly. Every person in the world come  across  them. So, I am also a person with lot of beliefs. We can call these beliefs (or) principles as "Tenets...

LESSON 5: SIP REGISTRAR SERVER AND LOCATION SERVER

If you hate long posts as I always suggest go through this video lesson (click here) Now, we already know that in real SIP world, any UA when it wants to communicate with another UA should take the help of “SIP Proxy Server” - which finds the actual location. Because it is not practically possible to remember all other UA’s addresses. All good till now. The next question which comes to mind is How a Proxy Server able to find contact  address of an User Agent(Called Party). Here, Proxy Server takes help of “Location Service”. Location Server Location Service helps in providing the exact location of UA. Location server is a server which records and maintain the contact information of each and every UA with in a typical enterprise. Location Server has its own database, which keeps up-to-date info of each UA by another Service called “Registration Service”. The Server which provides this service  called as a “Registrar Service”. Registrar Server Th...
